Official & Unofficial Title(s): Implementing a Vulnerable Youth Guardianship Program Bill/Law #: WA H.B. 1988 NHCSL Committee: Immigration, Human and Civil Rights NHCSL Sponsor(s): Lillian Ortiz-Self State/Territory: Washington Date: May 10 2017 Summary: Under this bill abandoned, abused or neglected youth who are immigrants are special immigrants. If under the age of 21 may be eligible to enter the vulnerable youth guardianship where the child would be less likely to enter human trafficking. Through this program these children can potentially gain citizenship.
