About CTIA

CTIA represents the U.S. wireless communications industry. From carriers and equipment manufacturers to mobile app developers and content creators, we bring together a dynamic group of companies that enable consumers to lead a 21st Century connected life.

Community

CTIA convenes the industry to provide resources, access and information, helping the wireless industry improve society. We convene the industry to tackle our most difficult challenges and coordinate voluntary best practices and initiatives. CTIA works with members to develop test plans and certification processes for mobile devices, coordinates with members and other industry leaders to ensure the security of mobile networks and devices, and leads industry initiatives to enhance accessibility, improve 9-1-1 location accuracy, deter phone theft, and encourage safe driving. The wireless industry is committed to helping consumers enrich their lives through mobile technologies and services.

Every day, people use mobile devices and technologies to connect in new ways and make their lives better. With a focus on health and safety, we proudly support these efforts through innovative programs, partnerships and initiatives. PulsePoint app is a lifesaving technology that alerts CPR-trained citizens to cardiac arrest situations in their vicinity so that they can administer aid until first responders arrive. Now in its fourth year, the Drive Smart campaign asks teens to submit their original videos about the dangers of distracted driving. The campaign began in 2014 with a partnership between the Foundation and By Kids For Kids and includes a curriculum for educators to teach high school students about the importance of staying focused when behind the wheel. Text4baby is the nation’s first free service designed to promote maternal and child health through text messaging. Today, in partnership with the Wellpass organization, the CTIA Wireless Foundation donates text messaging to the program on behalf of its participating carriers, making this service free to end users. Together with kids, expert educators, parents, wireless carriers, and CTIA Wireless Foundation, CTIA supports the Growing Wireless campaign, giving families tools to teach kids about responsible wireless use. The campaign covers areas like cyberbullying, parental control options, and safeguarding privacy online. CTIA and the wireless industry also created AccessWireless.org as a resource to learn about the ever-changing world of mobile devices and wireless services, and discover those that meet the specific needs of people with disabilities, seniors, and their families.

We’ve marveled at recent headlines touting rescues by drones, and we’re exploring how to support the efforts of our public safety professionals to bring that crucial technology to communities across our country. And we know that next-generation 5G wireless networks will help save more than $300 billion annually in health costs. Self-driving cars will save more than 20,000 lives each year. We’re proud of what we’ve accomplished, and we’re excited to bring lifesaving, life-enhancing mobile technology to Americans for years to come.
