Online Lenders Alliance

About OLA

The Online Lenders Alliance’s (OLA) core mission is to promote a diverse and responsible marketplace for innovative online financial products and services while expanding access to credit for all consumers—including those who are financially underserved. We represent innovative financial technology companies committed to the highest standards of conduct and dedicated to ensuring the best possible customer experience. OLA members must be compliant with all applicable federal and state laws; abide by a robust set of Best Practices; and adhere to a stringent Code of Conduct to ensure customers are fully informed and fairly treated.

Online Lending in the Community

Innovation and competition are leading to more products and more choices to meet consumers’ credit needs. OLA strives to provide consumers with the products they want and need in a safe and responsible manner. OLA members strive to ensure the highest standards of consumer protection while providing access to credit to millions of Americans who routinely turn to online lending to address their financial needs.

Consumer Protection

The Online Lenders Alliance is highly committed to adopt and enforce additional standards to deliver superior industry standards and consumer protection. OLA members comply with robust Best Practices that surpass legal standards and include everything from how a loan is advertised to how debt is collected. As part of its policing program, OLA enforces these standards by monitoring and crawling websites each year to identify companies that are in violation of the organization’s Best Practices. Since the start of OLA’s policing program in 2016, the organization has scanned more than a million websites for violations of its Best Practices, netting a 98 percent successful resolution rate.
