Del. Ashanti Martinez
Delegate Ashanti Martinez is a son of Prince George’s County, Maryland. Growing up and currently living in New Carrollton, Maryland, Del. Martinez attended school at St. Mary’s Landover Hills School, and graduated from Parkdale High School before attending Howard University. Since his start in politics, he’s worked for the Maryland Legislative Latino Caucus in Annapolis, Prince George’s County Council, and as a policy analyst for CASA.
Delegate Martinez proudly gives back to our community as an advisory board member for St. Mary’s Landover Hills School and served on the 20|30 Leadership Council for the Clinton Foundation.
He was named in the “Top 30 Under 30” by 93.9 WKYS in 2017, featured on the “Forty Under 40” by the Prince George’s County Social Innovation Fund and was named one of the 2018 Young Futurists by The Root. In 2020 he was listed as The Daily Record’s “Top 40 under 40, Very Important Professionals (VIP)” for Maryland and in 2021 he was named Prince George’s County Community Advocate of the Year by Neighborhood Design Center.
Delegate Martinez is on the Health and Government Operations Committee and is a member of the Legislative LGBTQ Caucus, Legislative Black Caucus, and Legislative Latino Caucus.
