Rep. Jose Giral

Rep. Jose Giral (PA)
Representative Jose Giral was elected to serve his first term representing the 180th Legislative District in 2022. A Philadelphia resident for over 20 years, he has a deep understanding of the communities he represents, which include Fairhill, Harrowgate, Juniata, Port Richmond, and Kensington.
Before entering public service, Rep. Giral built a successful small business in Philadelphia and became active in politics through community advocacy. His commitment to his neighborhood earned him a role on former Governor Tom Wolf’s Advisory Commission on Latino Affairs. He also serves as Ward Leader of the 33rd Ward in Philadelphia.
In 2025, Speaker Joanna McClinton appointed Giral to serve on five key House committees: Energy, Gaming Oversight, Human Services, Labor & Industry, and Liquor Control. He was also named Secretary of the Gaming Oversight Committee and Vice Chair of the Latino Caucus.
As a legislator, Rep. Giral has been an advocate for securing state funding for his district. He has successfully secured and allocated millions of dollars in grants and resources to support local projects, businesses, and community initiatives.
During a previous legislative session, two bills authored by Rep. Giral were signed into law by Governor Josh Shapiro. One ensures fair practices for parking infractions by requiring tow truck drivers to provide photo evidence before towing a vehicle. The other creates a special license plate honoring the Borinqueneers, the 65th Regiment of Puerto Rican soldiers who bravely served in World War I, World War II, and the Korean War. Despite facing segregation, they demonstrated extraordinary courage and dedication to the United States. This license plate serves as a lasting tribute to their sacrifices and ensures their legacy is remembered for generations to come.
Beyond his legislative work, Rep. Giral remains deeply committed to his community, regularly engaging with residents, business owners, and local organizations to address their concerns and advocate for meaningful change. As a champion for working families, small businesses, and underserved communities, he continues to fight for policies that promote economic opportunity, consumer protections, and social equity.
With a passion for public service and a dedication to improving the lives of his constituents, Rep. Giral is focused on building a brighter future for the 180th District and all Pennsylvanians.
