Sen. Michael Brooks-Jimenez is a proud resident of Southwest Oklahoma City. His family has called South OKC home for four generations. Michael’s mother taught at Oklahoma City Community College, and his father worked for Oklahoma City Public Schools.

He earned his bachelor’s degree from Oklahoma State University and his Juris Doctorate from the University of Oklahoma College of Law. Led by his entrepreneurial spirit, he opened Michael Brooks-Jimenez, P.C., in South Oklahoma City 26 years ago.

Sen. Brooks-Jimenez dedicates countless hours every year to the Southwest Oklahoma City community. He serves as a mentor for Oklahoma City students, is a graduate of Leadership Oklahoma City, and a member of the South Oklahoma City Chamber of Commerce.

Sen. Brooks-Jimenez was the first Latino member of the Senate and is one of three in the Legislature. He currently serves as Senate Democratic Caucus Chairman and as the Oklahoma Legislative Latino Caucus Chair, which he founded in 2020.

He is also member of The National Association of Latino Elected Officials and the Board of Latino Legislative Leaders and was selected to be part of the New Deal Leaders in 2021.

Outside of his business and work at the Capitol, he continues his community service through his volunteerism for several organizations. He currently serves as president of the Board of Santa Fe South Charter Schools. He is a former board chair of the Latino Community Development Agency Board of Directors. He was also named board member of the year in 2006 by the LCDA, other board service includes the Alliance for Economic Development and Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts.
