Eisai
About Eisai
First founded in 1941, Eisai is a global biopharmaceutical company with a portfolio of innovative neurology and oncology treatments, and additional unique regional medicines. We are “One Team” driven to work relentlessly to bring together science, technology, and real-world expertise to support the unmet needs of patients and their care partners in order to generate increased value to society. At the core of what we do is our human healthcare (hhc) ecosystem—we give first thought to patients and the people in the daily living domain and increase the benefits that health care provides to them as well as meet their diversified healthcare needs worldwide.
In not only our pipeline, but also our diversity agenda, Eisai is committed to making clear and meaningful advances to ensure that our employees are valued and can realize their full potential. Our efforts allow us to make measurable impact in the areas of promoting awareness, increasing diverse representation across Eisai teams, and enhancing our people development efforts. Eisai’s commitment to diversity is supported in our workplace starting with onboarding, which includes diversity training focused on strategies for overcoming hidden bias to a four-hour unconscious bias program for all employees. The goal is to ensure that everyone feels included, respected, and valued.
Engagement with Hispanic Community
The SPOT HER Campaign was launched in 2021 to help end the silence around endometrial cancer (EC), a type of uterine cancer. Developed in partnership with SHARE Cancer Support (SHARE), Facing Our Risk of Cancer Empowered (FORCE), Black Health Matters (BHM), Endometrial Cancer Action Network for African-Americans (ECANA) and the Foundation for Women’s Cancer (FWC), the campaign educates the public about how to spot potential signs of EC early, speak up and take action. EC is the most common gynecologic cancer in the U.S., and diagnoses and deaths are particularly on the rise in communities of color.
One Liver to Love was created with one community in mind—for patients and families who are living with and affected by liver cancer. It was developed in collaboration with Blue Faery and Global Liver Institute (GLI), two patient advocacy organizations that provide educational resources and support services to the community living with liver cancer. Communities of color are also disproportionately impacted by liver cancer.
We are dedicated to listening, understanding, and taking action that further advocates for and empowers the Hispanic and Latino communities.
Corporate Social Responsibility
Every Eisai employee is encouraged to spend a portion of their working time – a total of two to three days each year – interacting with and getting to know patients, their families and care partners. This unique opportunity helps us gain empathy through firsthand experiences that influence and inform the work we do. As a total workforce worldwide, Eisai employees participate in hundreds of activities annually across the U.S. It’s part of our #LifeAtEisai. Eisai has a long history of successful collaborations with an array of business partners, including pharmaceutical companies, biotech firms and academic institutions, which helps increase our access to external innovation and sparks the creation of breakthrough treatments. In the true spirit of hhc, we also join efforts with advocacy organizations to identify unmet needs, address health care disparities, and drive awareness of educational and helpful resources. Our Magnolia Meals at Home® delivery program for people living with cancer and their families is one example.
A true testament to integrity and corporate social responsibility is our ongoing commitment to sustainability across all our locations worldwide. Our U.S. headquarters recently earned three well-known environmental and health and wellness certifications: the prestigious LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design)®, Fitwel® and WELL Health-Safety Rating™ certifications. Eisai’s facilities in Exton, Pennsylvania and Baltimore, Maryland also achieved LEED certification. Finally, our Cambridge, Massachusetts site and all of our global facilities follow Eisai’s Environmental Protection Policy.
